Recreational VS Travel

Picture
Recreational Soccer is basically 'for the fun of it'. To join a rec team all you need to do it sign up because there are no tryouts. Skill levels on rec teams can vary from advanced to very little or no experience at all. Many rec teams are a mishmash of skill levels even in the older age divisions. Rec soccer is a great way to learn the sport of soccer and to develop skills starting at any age.

Travel Soccer is more comparable to a school team where competition is the key factor. Travel players are normally more skilled and usually have to try out to join the team. Some youth soccer clubs also have travel teams so if you would like info on joining a travel team check with the youth soccer club in your area.
